Monday Night Training at TrainWithRon

Some of my friends freak out when I tell them about my training sessions.  Trust me - I had to build up to this.  It definitely took me awhile.  But now - I thrive on the intensity.  If I don’t sweat, than I don’t feel like I’ve worked out hard enough.

As I’ve mentioned, TrainWithRon is the only place I’ll go for personal training.  If you want to learn more about them, go to www.trainwithron.com.  Tonight my trainer was DB - and it was a cardio-filled hour.  My session starts at 5:00 p.m. and I’m notoriously early because I need a little extra warming up to get my stiff knees to loosen up.  You always do a warm-up before every training session.  It consists of:  5-10 minutes on the treadmill (either walking or jogging); lunges; 20 each on the following weight-machines -  pull-down, row, chest press; then 20 push-ups, 60 bicyle crunches and then end with a run on the treadmill for 1 minute.  Coming early enough allows me to stretch a little too before the actual training begins.

Now the fun!   First DB had me pull the sled (with 90 lbs of weight on it) the length of the gym - down and back and was my choice to run it or walk it … I ran.  I immediately did 100 jumps on the jump rope, then I walked 2 walls.  I did this 4 times!  Then a massive drink of water!

Next was the step-ups and squats.  I would step up onto this platform with 12 lb weights in each arm.  As I stepped onto the platform I would do a curl to shoulder press, and then slowly bring arms down and step off.  You do this 10 times with each leg.  After this, I mmediately went to 10 deep squats, and ended with a sprint hard to the wall and then walk it back - doing this 5 times.  Did this twice!  More hydration!!!

We’re not done yet!  The Tank was next.  See the picture and you’ll understand why they call it The Tank.  It is weighted with 160 lbs.  You push it down and back the length of the gym.  Followed by 2 wall walks, and yes 100 more jumps.  I did this twice.

I ended with one of my favorite things to do - sprinting one wall … and as fast as I can.  So sprint one wall, walk one wall.  I did this 5 more times.

Total calories burned in this hour training session:  578 calories.  I kept my Heart Rate up in my optimal burning zone for 37 minutes!!!
